48
Sutherland Street, Pittsford Village
Rain date: July 12th)
Hosts, Ken and Pat Morrow, have graciously
agreed to share their ongoing restoration project with us. For 12
years now, they have
lived with construction machinery in their back yard and coped with
unexpected structural deficiencies...and they have more years ahead
before finishing. The project is
also complicated by the multiple changes to the original building
and its site. This visit is a unique opportunity to understand and
appreciate the incredible efforts often involved in preservation
projects.
This particular effort will save the remainder of the c. 1900 Satterlee
Estate, "Hylgarth", which exemplifies the era of suburban estates
and is the village's best example of the Shingle Colonial Revival style
of architecture.
